Resolved Question: Is it a bad time to vacation in Gulf Shores, AL?

Vacation in Gulf Shores Alabama? Although the oil spill has not reached the beaches in Gulf Shores Alabama to date and they have not closed the beaches I am still concerned with vacationing there. I have read articles that there is some funky smell in the area from it, I have read that there are sometimes "tarballs" on the beaches. I am concerned as well with a filmy residue that might wash up. Does anyone live in this area that can tell me the actual conditions of the beaches, not just if they are closed or not, but what the environment is. Is there an odor? Is there a film on the water?
