The tsunami waves that followed Chile's huge earthquake on Feb. 27 may not have been as devastating as feared, but the warnings and response by people on distant shores who fled to higher ground show that many people learned from the tragic tsunamis of 2004 in the Indian Ocean that killed 230,000 people who could not get out of the way before the huge waves hit....
